Once you have qualified the interviewer’s requirements the next part of this interview technique is to find out what the next stage in the process will be, whether that’s another interview or a job offer. This shows you can take control of a situation to push forward. An aim statement is another great sales technique which reassures the interviewer you’re keen on the role.
Your pre-close might look something like this –
You “So if I can demonstrate my suitability in terms of your requirements, what is the next stage in the process?”
Interviewer “I am looking for someone who lives in the North, with a proven track record selling Software Solutions. I need someone who has sold into the public sector, who can demonstrate the ability to do new business and will fit into the current team”
You “So if I can demonstrate my suitability in terms of location, my proven track record selling Software Solutions into the Public Sector, and my ability to fit into a team, what is the next stage in the process?”
Now the interviewer will explain the next stage.
You “Well that is certainly what I will aim for. Obviously we have a lot of ground to cover so let’s see where we get…”
