It's London Tech Week this week. Now in it's fifth year, there are over 200 events taking place across the city which will bring together the diverse community to celebrate success and make plans for the future.

It's London Tech Week this week. Now in it's fifth year, there are over 200 events taking place across the city which will bring together the diverse community to celebrate success and make plans for the future.

In fact, tech in the UK is stronger than ever. According to a study by London & Partners released today, UK tech companies have received over £5 billion in venture capital funding since 2016. This figure is more than France, Germany and Sweden combined. 

Ahead of London Tech Week, we caught up with Russ Shaw, head of Tech London Advocates (TLA), a community of more than 6,000 tech leaders and experts, to get his tips on what to do and the future of UK tech. 

On London Tech Week 

TLA has been involved in London Tech Week since that first event five years ago when Boris Johnson and Michael Bloomberg debuted the initiative. It’s come a long way since then. 

“Five years ago, the word fintech didn’t even exist,” says Shaw. “London tech was nowhere near what it is now.”
