Finlay James is excited to announce that it will be supporting UK-based charity Village by Village over the next 12 months. Each financial year, the global IT sales recruitment firm selects a different charity to work with. Last financial year was FACT Autism, and the financial year before that was cancer charity Edgar’s Gift.
Village by Village, ‘a small Manchester charity making a big difference’, aims to reduce needless suffering among children in poverty in Ghana. Mostly working in remote rural villages, they improve the quality of life of villagers by digging wells to bring clean drinking water, building schools and health clinics as well as other simple things we in the UK take for granted such as toilet blocks, information centres and school libraries.
Finlay James has taken on this exciting commitment with the aim of raising £8,000 to fund either a Construction Project or a Clean Hands Saves Lives project. There is hope that it will be possible for several employees to fly out to Ghana to help work on the project for a few days.
Village by Village won the internal vote to be Finlay James’ charity of choice for 2014/15. The charity itself is based in Altrincham, not far from Finlay James’ head office in Didsbury.
Director at Finlay James, John Gaughan said “From speaking to key stakeholders at Village by Village, I was blown away by the difference the charity makes to the lives of local people in Ghana. Here in the UK we are lucky enough to take such things as education for granted. Finlay James will work to assist Village by Village with direct and effective action to hopefully transform the lives of many children. This is something both myself and the rest of the team at Finlay James feel very passionate about and we all look forward to making a real difference."
